York Racecourse was transformed
into a sea of green in June for the 53rd
Macmillan Charity Raceday weekend.
This annual extravaganza, a beloved
tradition in the heart of Yorkshire,
not only delivered thrilling races
but also showcased the incredible
power of community spirit.
An astonishing £550,000 was raised
over the weekend, propelling the total
funds generated by this partnership with
York Racecourse to a staggering £10.5
million. This monumental achievement is
a testament to the unwavering support of
racegoers, sponsors, and volunteers who
came together for a common cause.
The jewel in the crown of the weekend,
is the first race of the Saturday, a unique
opportunity for amateur jockeys to race
on this historic course, in the 'Ride of
their Lives', and in doing so, raised an
incredible £223,000 for Macmillan!
The weekend culminated in a lunch
in the Dante Suite on the Saturday,
hosted by the inimitable Jane McDonald
adding her star quality to the festivities.
Her infectious enthusiasm and warm
personality created an electric
atmosphere that captivated the room.
